My First Crush Gets Married

Don't let the title shock you. Rea was just the type of girl everybody loved. She was sweet, gentle and kind, with a voice of an angel, and the spirit of a regal lioness. I've always remembered her, even if it has been half a generation that we haven't seen each other. I believe she deserves all the happiness this world can give her.
I'm incredibly happy for the woman now known as Mrs. Rea Ann Villanoza Koa. I wish her and her new husband Ken Koa all the happiness in the world.

Congratulations to the both of you.

The breathtaking wedding images were taken by Paul Vincent, who I'll most likely be calling the day I finally decide to walk the aisle.

Hottify Yourself!

Now that I think about it, every guy who’s ever been in my life’s been physically it. I remember thinking that when I was in first grade when everybody looked good in basketball jerseys. I grew up with the pastor’s kids- they were health buffs. The question asked was ‘how much do you bench?’ Course nobody ever asked me that. If I were in the Justice League I’d be Plastic Man. Heck even that polymer-poopoo-head had a six pack in a couple of comic issues. My best friend in high school, Ira, who went on to become the host of that adorable daytime show ‘Hapinas’ was the big dude in school. We all thought he could punch through a brick wall if he wanted to.

Now, I live pretty far away from my friends, and the substitutes are the hordes of Koreans that come over to study here and become my buddies-of-the-year. Now those guys? Pick ANY one of them randomly and the one you’d pick would be perfect for the cover of Men’s Health. I’m serious! I haven’t met a single Korean who I didn’t admire physically. Even my brother, adopted Korean, who seems to only loaf around all day, is not at all bad-looking.

Everyone who knows me knows that I’m a huge kid. I’m a big comic book buff. And everyone knows how well-toned Superman and the Justice League are drawn. Heck, even business moguls Lex Luthor and Max Lord have bodies that would give Paul Walker arun for his cash. Ever seen Professor X with his shirt off? (not the movie versions, Patrick Stewart’s great but… er… not a pretty mental picture) There are more shiny domes on him than what you see on his bald head.

So what’s your point? Basically, I’m surrounded by hot. It’s inexcusable to not be hot. Heh. Ergo in the new year, I remember what my (also super hot) friend Joshua once said. “Be careful cuz being thin and eating a lot can lead to you looking like a ‘butete’ (I think it’s a lizard, but by his description it one of those coffee-chugging aliens from MIB that sit in a room and loaf around with tiny frames and huge stomachs.) New Year’s Resolution? Hottify yourself!

Been hitting the gym and I feel awesome! I thought it’d be embarrassing bein’ the new guy, but the dudes there are either very nice or leave you alone in general. Fear of snickering alleviated. Does the gym make you feel tired? The opposite is true. You feel all energized after. It’s great! Now all I need to do is to make sure I don’t miss my daily Hand start eating right (that’s the harder part, cuz veggies? Eww)

Wish me luck.

Christophe's Quotes:

"The Longer You Dig, The Deeper The Grave."

- Xtof

Every second you spend to wallow in a problem decreases your chances of getting out of it faster.

So tired...

...of people who can't put themselves outside the box. They either ask for validation on a feeling that they're not entitled to (anymore) and shoot down the man who tells him the truth simply because it hurts. Or they keep looking for solutions to a problem, unaccepting of the fact that the solution is smack in front of them. I'm tired of seeing the ones I love painting themselves into a corner, or searching in vain for things they are not to have, or acting like spoiled children, or...

I dunno. I'm incoherent now.

The Power of Beyonce

Now I'm not one to write about the influence that any individual or object could have over me but I believe Beyonce is a worthy exception. Heck, I'm even uncomfortable writing about it right now. Just before I was pulled off DC Superheroes, along with the rest of the editorial crew, I was about to write on Beyonce and her latest album, B-day. Right now I can't find the file that contained my review, but in general, I called the album 'loud' and 'whiny'. In fact I stayed away from the album for quite a while fearing my ears'd fall off if I ever dared listen to it again.
Thus Beyonce's singles came and went, and I, the long-time Destiny's Child fan, brushed off what everyone seemed to be calling hits.

For the longest time I went Beyonce-less (except for DreamGirls, which was A-MA-ZING!) until people around me started chanting 'to the left, to the left'... and thus I actually went and listened to the single "Irreplaceable". To me, it was catchy and was a fun song to sing. Little did I realize that the loud, insistent voice she was using had a strong psychological effect to its listener.

Now I'm the type who'd forgo smoking and drinking for a few taps on my mp3 player. Enter 'big problem'. And guess what, ill-fitting as most of the lyrics might've been 'I can have another you in a minute, don't you ever for a second get to thinkin' you're irreplaceable" stuck and got me through.

Now while I didn't totally get rid of the subject of my current irknessness, I went on to find myself another song that'd make me feel detached from the situation. "Freakum Dress' which pretty much said 'stop wallowin'! time to party!' jumped right out at me, and 'Beautiful Liar' reminded me that 'it's not worth my time' to be wallowing.

Like I said, granted, the lyrics aren't a total and perfect match, but the conviction with which she pushes the lyrics really drive every song home. And now I'm a happy camper (reference "Get Me Bodied' which is reallu ust about having a good time.) Thanks B.

The album B-day is available in pretty much any record bar except for the ones that still sell pirated casettes (which I think stopped multiplying around the time Hanson's MMbop came out). It has tons of music videos. Grab one now.

Meanwhile in the Hoenn Region

I don't think I had this problem in Kanto both times I was there, but my Pokemon in Hoenn are ridiculously 'blah'. Bad enough I didn't know I should plant berries back (the locals look at you all funny if you don't, kinda like chewing bubble gum in Singaporean streets) but the Pokemon I have seem to not be that interesting for me to train. Basically, I'm now in Vendanturf Town and i dumped all the Pokemon I caught in the first few cities into the Pokemon PC System, replacing them with newly caught ones. These ones seem decent, save for Sableye who looks as if he's about to eat any of the other Pokemon I let out... 'Blazooster' has evolved into a Combusken and has gotten me three badges already- thank goodness he's pretty decent in a fight. By the way, since I'm pretty much bored in Hoenn, I took a little trip back to Kanto and summoned Kanto and Johto pokemon to fill my pokedex! Yeah, I know it's cheating, but hey, I've been round three times, I deserve to at least 'feel' like a Pokemon master. Unfortunately I can't smuggle any of them to Hoenn. Oh well. Guess Im stuck with Combusken...

Slllleeeeppeeee......

I am running out of free time. I wake up at 12:30, have lunch. Teach from 1 to 6, then head to sta Rosa for my 9-to-5 (AM, that is). Thank goodness the new job training is so much fun. It's the highlight of my day even placed at the end of it. I don't know if I've got a lot of time to blog, but, hey, I'll try.

Bye Bye Taro...

Life is incredibly short. Especially when you're a six-inch mammal.

Taro was special. when i bought him, he kungfued his way off my grasp all the time. he didn't like other hamsters, and at that time he didn't like people. He was the first hamster who I heard with a voice. The only time he had made a sound was just after we had bought him-my mom thought he was dead in his box and she kicked it to get him to move. Taro, rudely awakened, screamed like it was the end of the world for about two minutes. She felt real guilty afterwards. He ate anything and everything we gave him and kept good stocks for if when he got hungry. He learned to tidy up on his own, messing up just one tiny corner of his box. he made it a point to look up at us in greeting from inside the box, he did this with two feet. He was the hamster who walked on two feet. He exercised by attempting to escape, jumping near the corner repetitively. On those nights that he got out, 3 to be exact, he would crawl on my mom's leg while she's sleeping . He knew where she was every time, and crawled up to say hi. Whenever he got a wafer, he would prance around with it in his mouth like a huge cigar. Whenever he does something wrong and my mom nags him, he platys dead, with legs up in the air in a very unfashionable manner. He drove out another hamster from his box, feeling territorial of it. He enjoyed quiet time with me on my palm. He even survived a 'bath' from my mom, something most hamsters die of. then today at around 10am his health failed. we do not know if it was 'wet tail' as he had sat on wet sawdust, having turned over his water can. He was all wet. We don't know if he got some sort of pulmonary attack due to the wet floor, as he always overturned his water cans to try and make steps to get out of his box. When I got home, he was refusing food and could not drink. Having left from work, I heard from my mom that taro 'spoke' for a short time, not having done so in a while. I remember the only time he did this was out of 'fear'. 2pm, he left our home. I hadn't held Taro in my palm for days and my mom, while constantly talking to him, never directly touched him. She also hadn't 'spoken' to him all day yesterday. Both of us feel that we may have taken him for granted. It's a lesson to learn, as I was 'thinking about' spending time with him yesterday, but I just didn't.
Taro was my only pet. Don't anyone dare belittle his meaning to me. He will always be remembered.

Fastfood Woes

I love fastfood. No, no.... I live fastfood. My body is 70% McDonald's. It's my emotional food. It's my sustenance. I also get into heated arguments with people about wheteher or not I should eat as much fast food as I do. You'd probably think that I'm the last person to complain about the establishments. Not so.
Cases in point-

#1 I go to a fastfood in the Paranaque area. I'm in line, right? Then the manager on the counter, upon my 'turn' motions me to the left side with an open palm without a word. A service crewperson attended to me, and I thought nothing of the stone cold silent manager... until about three seconds later when she attended to the person behind me in the line. So the crewperson was taking my order already and to multitask, the manager attended to the guy, greeting him with a warm 'Good afternoon, sir! What is your order?'
I was, like, 'What? Do you ignore the yuppie generation now or what?' I proceeded to state my order in full English to signify my annoyance.
To further salt my slashed bleeding ego, as the crewperson was about done with my order, the manager says to her, 'Let me at the register first' and she began 'punching in' the guy's orders and straightaway set up his tray. Two minutes later and voila!-the guy's order was done.
I had to wait for roughly seven minutes after that to get my order filled.

#2 The following week, I was in line right after my Chinese friend at another fastfood. It would've been a quick grab had it not been for a woman who wandered away from her line and 'hovered' beside ours. Now, it was quite obvious that I came after my Chinese friend since we were all yappy while she was ordering. I was definitely next. As my friend left. I began to dictate my order. Suddenly I realized that this floating lady with an order slip from her abandoned line was right beside me. So, the crewperson goes, as I am talking, 'Ma'am. Did you come first?" My jaw dropped to the floor. Of course the woman was all 'Yes, of course.' And the crewperson proceeded to take her order, ignoring my rolling eyes which were starting to mimic a pachinko machine on decaf. And so the woman left, having had her order filled. As the crewperson finally set her eyes on me, I let out 'Could you please make sure you take the order of the right person next time? The ones in line? I mean ... hello?'. I was amazed when the girl had the gall to insist that I did not come first. The manager overheard and asked to hear about the sitch. The crewperson continued to defend her stance. I told her not to insist, and of course the manager apologized for the erring crewperson.

#3 Two days ago, I ate at a fastfood in a mall in my town. I ordered a large meal and it took ages for my fries to arrive. About 15 minutes into my meal, I decided to check on it. Lo and behold, the frying machine zord thing was overflowing with fries and so were the trays of the customers being served. The reaction of the negligent crewperson? 'Oh, I forgot! Heeheehee.'

#4 Just tonight, after a looong day's work which ended in a taxing tutor session, I went for dinner at another mall fastfood. They no longer served anything except the generic burger meal. They told me that it was because it was already closing time. it was understandable. The two managers took my order, leaving out one detail- they didn't ask if it was to be dined in or taken out. They rushed preparations of my order in take-out bags with what seemed to be much impatience. Granted, they were closing. But did they really have to make the tired, hungry customer feel unwelcome?

It seems that everytime I go to a fastfood nowadays there are those things that make meel so... unfastfoody-happppyish. Hope they can fix this.

Asal Ko

Wow. Just wow. I wan't totally into going to Tiendisitas for lunch last Sunday. I felt like it was an assault to my senses. I mean, hello! Pure Pinoy lunch? No burgers and pizzas? But it was so much fun! I'm not big on chicken-scraping and digging into 'em, but I just loved my Chicken Inasal lunch. Totally Le Jolouge! Hey, if you're an Inasal fan, you may want to pick up 2 servings. I absolutely loved the antique shops! I have no idea what was comin' over me! It was so Le Jolouge! (repetitive writin' right there). Throw in the mist fans, the blacklights on top of the trash, the magical restrooms, the sosyal cat and dog owners, and the perfectly waxed floors... 'Pinoy Ako' heaven!

By the way, has anyone seen this? Catch Naomi Watts lookin' ever so perfect in Vanity Fair!

Gosh. I hope I don't lose my blogging desires. ^^^

An all-English environment! What I've been longing for all mah life!!! Well, not naman all my life. Hehehe. My boss has been thrown suggestions regarding this kind of system, and my whole 'I gotta find an actual English-speakin' second workplace' thing might've been the final pickupstick. Haha. Now the office I work in is an English-speaking zone and soon, it will be the entire school.
I was gonna write somethin' anbout Filipinos and their English, but, hello? internet!

Glug Glug. A Day of Firsts

Today was a day of firsts for me

1. Saw maybe a hundred spike-shaped trees in a row.
2. Went snorkeling.
3. Met hundreds of colorful fish and saw countless corals.
4. Saw a rainbow in the water (and none in the sky at the time).
5. Ate at McDonald's Tagaytay in shorts. (froze to near-death)

I'm tired and I don't wanna make an essay about today as of yet. But today was a fun day. :)

Le Jologue

There's a side of me that is very very condescending towards certain people. If they act arrogant while it is not their place to be that way, or force themselves to measure up to certain standards that they obviously couldn't, or are generally 'epal'lious, then they are candidates of my 'oqrye' (try pronouncing that) or my generally ignoring their existence. I guess that is arrogance to some extent, and I sooo know that. So I guess that's why people sometimes think I'm not down to earth.
But people who know me very well can sometimes consider me as an earth-level jologue. I dunno why but this year I've been addicted to OPM, Pinoy Big Brother, the FilmFest and other things my old buddies'd call Jologs. (I love that film by the way-'Jologs'). And ever since childhood I've been a fan of camp and all sorts of childish things. That includes comics, 8o's cartoons etc. Oh well, add all that up and what do you get- Le Jolouge.

FYI- PictureTrail sucks. They deleted my one-month old account. They officially suck.

Turnin' Japanezah

These days my PC's been stuffed with all things Jap. They have a strange camp thing going that I find so incredibly hard to resist. I'm almost done with the 10-episode drama, Brother Beat (no subtitles), recently binged on thrillers Audition, Uzumaki, and KairoPulse, wanting to repeat Sailormoon, the live drama, and beginning GTO and MagiRanger. It's sooooooooooo fun (and you, rerader, are thinking, is this guy, like, 12?) I'm 12 forever. Now cross reference that with my interest for Saw, Uzumaki, Kill Bill and the like and you get a pretty disturbing picture. hehe.

Yesterday, I decided to do something lifechanging. And I'll defeat the tell-all nature of my blog by not saying anything right now.

Hmmm

I wonder how my little brother's New Year went... He's stuck in Cebu working his butt off, and from what I read in his cyworld, it isn't the best of times. Hmmm.... I hope he's faring well.

The True Meaning of 'Blog'

Since last night, I realized the potential of true blogging. How it's not just one's personal 'pensieve', or thought-keeper, and that it is in fact, quite a public place. If I were to compare it to a part of the house, it'd be the open garage you see in the American movies where old memories are placed to last forever. That would probably never happen here though. You'd be robbed silly of your precious memento the second your eyes leave your precious garage. Okay, I'll need a better illustration. AH! Yes. that wall that exists in every Filipino's home. Right at the sala. It has all your graduation pics, your certificates and certifications (figure out the diff), your Mc Donald's Happy Meal collection amd your ceramic decor from every wedding, anniversary, 'binyag' and whatnot you've ever been to.
See, I'm very incoherent. That illustration was way too long.
Today, I'm beginning to feel the pressure. My blog's not just for me, is it? It's for everyone who happens to click in to a single word that happens to be in it.
Therefore, that's the true meaning of 'blog'. The 'blog' sound you hear when the pressure of writing better finally finds you and flattens you on the floor.
Okay, maybe, I'm exagerrating. (did I spell that right?)
There has to be some balance here. I have to learn how to put in the stuff I want, how I want it, and yet, not without regard to the readers.
Meaning my blog has to have stuff that people'll actually read! This is news to me. Really it is. Probably I'm one of the few who are like that.
Oh well...

The Etheria site is up... but a warning to slower PCs, the flash can take about 5 forevers to load and has no preloader bar to tell you where it's at. Also as of press date (nax) only 3 women are featured in the flash intro (Pirena, Amihan, and Alena). the gallery seems promising but the thumbnails are unclickable. http://www.igma.tv/show.php?showid=163

The Encantadia site is still running, though the show has ended. It's at http://www.igma.tv/show.php?showid=110

And of course the new Mulawin site, which is cool but lacks a lot http://www.mulawinthemovie.com

Gosh, I'm so tired, and sleepy, and handsome...

How'd I spend my day yesterday? Lessee...
1. watched Brother Beat Episode 4 in the morning followed by The Exorcism of Emily Rose
2. went to the office to give my boss his handycam back
